My Story
I have always had a love of livestock animals and have dreamed of one day owning a farm. While I did not grow up in farming it was all around me in my youth and I always felt drawn to it. I thought that when I retire I might start a small animal farm. As fate would have it, I gave up my corporate gig in 2020 due to the pandemic and injuries sustained from my time serving in the Air Force.
I decided it was time to chart a path forward that would lead to a profitable farm business while allowing me to be fully engaged in daily operations. Enter the alpaca. Alpacas are one of the most gentle and inquisitive livestock animals one can own. Despite being a niche product commercially, alpacas offer great value in the retail space with their extremely high quality fiber which is on par with cashmere and angora fleece.
I have engaged the services of the Veterans Administration Vocational & Rehabilitation program with the goal of becoming self-employed with a farm business. I am building a solid working relationship with the USDA and NRCS to develop the farm embracing environmental conservation best practices to ensure my farm will be a strong benefit to my Douglasville community.
